I have been married for 30 years and have four children. I have six grandchildren, four of which I attended their births and two of those were home births. I find birth a miracle of God and want to help the woman have the best experience she can.
My goal in being a doula is to help women in labor. I have attended 11 births over the last 10 years. Three have been home births and the rest have been hospital births of which three ended in c-sections. I have always had an interest in being someone who was there during birth and decided on being a doula. I completed the doula training in Lafayette in 2006. I'm there for the Mom and will do whatever she needs or wants me to do. I will do two visits before the birth and one after the birth, whether it be a phone call or a home birth. I will be on call two weeks before the birth, I want the mom to feel she can call me at any time, day or night.
