My approach:
I love natural birth and am also utterly grateful for the medical help available for laboring women. My goal is to help mothers feel safe, strong, and unconditionally supported, whatever they choose.
My services, following a free consultation:
- 2 prenatal visits to get to know you, your spouse/partner, and your thoughts about birth
- Access for questions and conversation throughout your pregnancy (call me)
- On-call 24 hours around your due date, joining you whenever you like once labor starts
- Staying with you through the birth of your baby, and providing comfort measures and emotional support
- Postpartum visit a few days after birth
- A written birth story to mark the event
My experience and training:
- Have given birth to two children; both were born in a hospital, naturally and without medication, each time with the help of their father and a doula
- Experienced at breastfeeding (5+ years, including time working outside the home)
- Some experience with home birth
- Completed the DONA International training program for birth doulas
- Completed 3 courses on childbirth, each with a different emphasis (natural birth, medicated birth, various settings, prenatal nutrition, postpartum planning)
- Also have a BBA (Texas A&M), MBA (Northwestern), and 14 years experience in corporate communications, teaching, and helping college students
